I AM AT TEN TEN TAPAS tonight, and we have special guests galore, including the incomparable Lisa Fennell!

Now on to the music.... We had a fantastic show at the Jazz in the Sanctuary on Wednesday!

By buds Jason Decouto was on piano, Tim Stacey was on bass, and Chris Haas on drums.

I played my new Tromba trumpet exclusively. It sounds amazing, and plays effortlessly - you'd never know it was space age plastic! (OMG!) ..... and I never use any other mouthpiece but my Signature Line of Wedge.

I created a little video, more to come... but the low light forced me to get creative with the FX..... and the fantastic Leon Keng took some stellar shots of what it really looked like!

It'll be a sweet, mainstream jazz program from me and my crew Jason Decouto (piano), Chris Haas (drums), and Tim Stacey (bass) at Evensong, jazz vespers sort of presentation.

We have some classics from the Blue Note records heyday, as well as a few of my funky tunes deconstructed and rebuilt as hard swingin' mashups.

For Immediate Release - 10 year old prodigy performs with me Saturday

This Saturday, Sept 26, Ten Ten Tapas is hosting a special guest appearance by a 10 year old singing wunderkind, Elias Tyson. This little cat sings like a bird and is a stylistic Old Soul, channeling everyone from Billy Eckstine and Jiohnny Hartman, to Stevie Wonder and Bruno Mars! This is a show that can't be missed!

Elias will be joining me, along with Mimi Snyder, and the fantastic TenTen fav Lisa Fennell, and not only will we be doing the jazziest array of funky stuff (my originals), bossa novas (Mimi's bag), bluesy classics from the 50's and 60's (one of Lisa's skills), but we will let Elias rule the roost when he comes on...

Valerie Jenkinson has called her posse for her going away party, as she is relocating to St. Lucia, so vacant seats will be low, but party atmosphere high!

Make a rezzie NOW, and come on down at 7 ish for a really rockin' night!

Also note that next Wednesday the 30th, I will be performing with my straight ahead quartet at Jazz Vespers Evensong, at Brentwood Presbyterian Church, 1600 Delta Ave, Burnaby....  8 pm, with Chris Haas (drums), Jason Decouto (piano), and Tim Stacey (bass). A cool environment for playing straight-ahead classic jazz.

Vibraphone Master Nick Apivor in the house!

Nick Apivor on vibes was featured guest with me at TenTenTapas.com recently and he tore it up! 

Check out his extended solos at 2:15 and 4:50, where he really struts his stuff. He went through the roof on Seven Come Eleven but unfortunately wasn't captured on video. 

Shot in lowlight with an iPhone in the left hand with the Tromba trumpet in the right, so it's a little shaky, but definitely a cool set captured. We are hoping Nick makes himself available again soon!

The food is awesome and I will be featuring a set of New Orleans style bluesy jazz.

The music is jazzy and soulful (that's my dept) and we have special guests Mimi Snider, Gunther Klaus, and Steven Ley joining me. I'll also be doing a mini tribute to Miles Davis's Kind Of Blue album in the early set, so come hear some classics.....

BLUES BUSTERS NOON GIG TOMORROW @ BENTALL DOWNTOWN

Hey Vancouver Music Fans!

The last Bentall Summer Concert Series Show on Aug 28 was a rainout, so the BLUES BUSTERS are taking over and rockin' the plaza one more time for the shank of summer! Many thanks to Ivanhoe-Cambridge, Bentall Towers, Lynn and Jenna for the magnanamous funding and opportunity!

Come on by to 1055 Dunsmuir, Vancouver, on the lower plaza from noon - 1:30 and have a great end of season wind-up show, with Cecile LaRochelle, Billy Mendoza, Lindsay Mitchell, Loren Etkin, Dave Webb, Keith Bennett, and myself... an all-star lineup!

AND.... Don't forget I will be at Ten Ten Tapas Saturday night at 7-ish, and we have Steven Ley and Mimi Snider joing me on stage as special guests!
