Dear Concert Attendee,
We are very excited to present the eclectic virtuoso Gabriel Mark Hasselbach at the 23rd Annual S.K. Lee Enchanted Evenings Concert Series tomorrow evening, Thursday August 11th 2016. As the performance fast approaches, here is some important information for your upcoming concert experience.
Gabriel is a totally unique artist, creating an enticing and varied palette of textures and colors with his trumpet, flugehorn, flute, valve trombone, and electronic wind instruments with erudite grace and lyricism. He has had a half dozen Billboard Top 20 charting tracks of his own, and many more with other Artists as a featured soloist, including 2016 releases by Greg Manning, Rock Hendricks, Tony Saunders, & Bob Baldwin. Please take a moment to download the concert’s digital program located here: http://bit.ly/2016EEGMH
We are also delighted to present our special programming tonight to enrich your experience pre-concert and during the intermission. Look forward to a traditional Chinese tea ceremony station by Lars Nielsen of Palate Tea, traditional Chinese Calligraphy Demonstrations by the Richmond Chinese Calligraphy & Painting Club, and erhu virtuoso Jirong Huang of the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble at various points in the evening. Be sure to check out our 2016 season’s Special Programming at http://bit.ly/EE2016SP
If you have ordered a picnic dinner, we highly encourage you to come at 7pm in order to pick-up your dinner and eat in the garden before the concert. The performance itself begins at 8pm, and the front doors close at 8:15pm. Since this performance takes place within a living museum, we do not permit outside food or drink in order to protect the many sensitive materials that make up the garden. Purchases at our concession and drink stations or artist merchandise will be cash only, so bring along something extra for your cd’s and snacks.
If you like this programming, we encourage you to purchase a Garden membership at the concert – this gives you free access to the Garden year-round, discounts on events such as Enchanted Evenings, and every new membership signup at Enchanted Evenings will receive a complimentary glass of wine! Current members will also receive refills for the night on any tea they purchase at our drink counter. You can also support the Garden’s public programming by Paypal with a donation at www.enchantedevenings.ca .
We’d like to remind everyone that the concert goes ahead, rain or shine. In the event of rain, the performance will be held in our picturesque Ming-Dynasty inspired Hall of One Hundred Rivers, and you may still explore the entire garden under cover. For those of you who purchased Mountaintop seating, we will contact you directly about adjustments in seating in the event of rain.
For parking, the closest pay lot to the garden is located at Chinatown Plaza at the corner of Keefer and Columbia Streets https://goo.gl/maps/L3mXPFy8mvG2. Rates vary from night to night.
I hope you are as excited as we are for the upcoming concert!
